This September marks the opening of a brand-new Early Years facility at Countryside’s Kingsmere housing development in Bicester. Providing an extension to the existing St Edburg’s C of E Primary School, this purpose-built, single-storey building has been designed to accommodate Nursery, Foundation, and Key Stage One pupils, offering a modern and nurturing environment tailored to their developmental needs.

As part of a partnership with Oxfordshire County Council, this new facility helps meet the growing demand for primary school places in the area. With the addition of this new Early Years school, St Edburg’s is now expanding from a two-form to a three-form entry school, increasing the capacity on offer for local families.

The new building not only includes bright, flexible indoor learning spaces but also features outdoor learning areas, fostering a strong connection between indoor and outdoor education. This design approach supports the cognitive and social development of young learners in a holistic and engaging way.

The opening of the Early Years facility also enables the existing school building to be adapted, transforming it into a dedicated Junior site. This will create specialist learning spaces for Key Stage Two students, including facilities for languages, IT, and physical education, ensuring a smooth transition to secondary school.

Martin Leach, Director, Countryside Properties (Bicester) Ltd, said: We are thrilled to celebrate this important milestone at Kingsmere. The completion of St Edburg’s new Early Years facility is a great addition to the educational offering here at Kingsmere.  It’s the second primary school building to be delivered at Kingsmere along with the new Whitelands Academy.  This state-of-the-art facility is designed to provide an enriched learning environment for young children, supporting their development from the very start of their educational journey. Our continued collaboration with Oxfordshire County Council and the Oxford Diocese Education team reflects our dedication to creating a lasting, positive impact in the area.”
